Tiffany Stratton almost entered WWE television with a very different identity.
During a recent livestream, the reigning WWE star opened up about the alternate names she considered before officially debuting in WWE NXT. While fans now know her as Tiffany Stratton, she revealed WWE nearly went in another direction entirely with “Veronica Swanson.”
Stratton laughed about the possibility while questioning whether the name would have even fit her personality and image.
“So, it was between Tiffany Stratton or Veronica Swanson. Do you guys think I look like a Veronica? Veronica Swanson.”
She then revealed another name she actually liked more in hindsight — “Darby” — because she thought it could have created the nickname “Darby Doll.” Still, Stratton admitted she doubts WWE would have approved it.
“But the name I would like, I actually thought about this a long time ago and I’m like, ‘Why didn’t I put it down?’ – I thought about doing the name Darby, so I could be the Darby Doll, but I don’t think they would have gone for that.”
Despite the alternate possibilities, Stratton made it clear she’s happy WWE settled on the name fans know today. She also revealed there’s a personal connection behind it.
“I’m really happy (with Tiffany Stratton). It’s my mom’s name, I like the name Tiffany a lot.”
Since arriving in WWE, Tiffany Stratton has quickly become one of the company’s fastest-rising stars thanks to her athleticism, confidence, and larger-than-life presentation. Looking back now, it’s hard to imagine her using any name other than Tiffany Stratton, but the “Darby Doll” idea definitely would have sparked some conversation among wrestling fans.
