Thekla didn’t just beat Starlight Kid at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. She made sure to disrespect her after the bell too.
“The Toxic Spider” retained the AEW Women’s Championship against the STARDOM standout, who was making her AEW debut. Starlight Kid gave Thekla a fight, but the champion survived and finished her off with a spear followed by back-to-back stomps for the win.
Then things got ugly. After the match, Thekla grabbed Starlight Kid’s mask and cut it up. She wasn’t done there either, because she spat on the mask after destroying it.
Thekla then took the disrespect even further by rubbing the damaged mask in the face of STARDOM President Taro Okada. She followed that up by beating Okada with the mask, leaving no doubt that she wanted to send a message to STARDOM.
The win already kept Thekla on top as AEW Women’s Champion, but the post-match attack is what people will be talking about. Cutting up a masked wrestler’s mask is about as personal as it gets, and Thekla made sure Starlight Kid’s AEW debut ended in humiliation.
