Thea Hail has been incredibly open about her alopecia diagnosis, but her latest update shows she’s still figuring things out as the condition continues to progress. The NXT star says her bald spot has gotten noticeably bigger, she’s going through more medical testing, and she’s trying just about everything she can to slow it down.

While speaking on her YouTube channel, Hail casually brought up her alopecia while talking about completely unrelated topics. Staying true to form, she joked about the situation before admitting that the bald spot she nicknamed “Harold” has been growing faster than she’d like.

“Fun fact, I have alopecia right now. I’m balding. It’s like my favorite thing to talk about. So, his name is Harold. That’s my bald spot. He is growing a lot right now, like at a concerning rate. So, he is starting to peek through a little bit. He’s there. You see him? There he is. He’s starting to make little appearances now. And he was not doing that before.”

Hail also revealed she’s heading back to the doctor for more blood work as she tries to get a better understanding of what’s going on. She admitted the testing itself isn’t something she enjoys, comparing it to the way she avoids looking while getting tattoos because knowing what’s happening makes her uncomfortable.

“So, I go get more blood work tomorrow. I have to go get more blood work. I don’t like getting blood work. I don’t like when they stick… you know, when they take your blood, I can’t look at it because if I look at it, I know what’s happening to me. It’s the same as when I get tattoos… I don’t like looking when they’re doing my tattoos… So, I have to do that tomorrow. So, that’s not very fun.”

Beyond the medical testing, Hail said she’s also experimenting with changes to her diet. She made it clear these are personal choices rather than something a doctor specifically instructed her to do, as she’s trying to cut back on foods she believes could trigger inflammation.

“Actually, I can’t even have cheese right now because with this I have to clean… I’m trying. I don’t have to do this. This is electively. I am trying to cut out a lot of inflammatory foods because that can cause some flare-ups with alopecia. Probably stressed because I’m a stressed out little bee and I got anxiety.

I am not drinking energy drinks right now. I haven’t had an energy drink in, I believe, two weeks… Huge, right?”

Hail later returned to “Harold,” confirming the bald spot is still expanding while keeping her sense of humor intact.

“Yes, I’m losing my hair. Just in that one little spot, he just keeps growing. His name’s Harold. If we get another one, we’ll name him something else. But Harold is this one.”

From there, she went into more detail about the dietary changes she’s trying. Hail said she’s avoiding dairy because she’s lactose intolerant, cutting back on gluten where possible, and loosely following the AIP diet while waiting to see what her upcoming blood work reveals.

“I am lactose intolerant. Devastating. So I am not eating cheese right now and I’m trying to not eat any milk. I am also trying to stay away from a little bit of gluten… It’s called this AIP diet. I’m trying to stay as close to that as I can and, girl, I got to have some rice.”

Rather than guessing whether gluten is actually contributing to the problem, Hail said she’s getting tested before making any long-term decisions.

“We’re going to test my gluten levels tomorrow. So, if I am gluten intolerant, well, we should know through the blood work instead of me having to just cut everything out for three months. I want to do that with lactose anyway because I do know that that is an inflammatory food for me.”

She also revealed she’s looking into additional food intolerance testing and isn’t relying on just one approach. Along with the dietary changes, she’s using oils, a scalp-stimulating tool and plans to undergo an allergy panel to see if anything else could be contributing to the flare-up.

“I’m not too thrilled about Harold, but he’s a part of me now. We keep joking that eventually… alopecia does normally go away and your hair comes back. It does kind of take a year. I have like this spiky thing I jab into my head to stimulate the hair follicles. And I got a bunch of oils… I’m going to do an allergy panel and see if that can kind of come back with anything.”

Hail is clearly taking the condition seriously, but she’s also refusing to let it change her personality. Even while talking about blood tests, diet changes and a growing bald spot, she kept finding reasons to laugh—including giving the patch its own name. It’ll be interesting to see whether some of the changes she’s trying help over the coming months.
