Tessa Blanchard has now defended Hulk Hogan over his racist remarks, following his recent passing.
While speaking on her YouTube channel, Tessa Blanchard admitted it was hard for her to decide if she should post the video. She went back and forth because she knows how the internet can be; how fast people share opinions, twist what others say, and jump on trends without knowing the full story.
In the end, Blanchard chose to speak up. She said life is too short to stay quiet just to avoid online hate. She didn’t post the video for attention or likes since she just wanted to show respect.
“So, I wasn’t sure I was going to make this video. Honestly, I kind of went back and forth about it because I know how the internet works. I know how fast people are to jump in with their opinions, to twist stories, to follow trends and act like they know everything about everyone.
And then as I was thinking, I was like, screw that. That was even a thought in my head during this time. But you know what? Life’s too short. It’s too short to stay quiet just to protect yourself from that kind of noise, to live in that kind of fear. So, this video — it’s not about going viral. It’s not about getting the likes or the retweets. It’s really just about respect.”
Tessa said Hogan wasn’t just a wrestler. To a whole generation, he was wrestling. He brought a lot of attention to the sport. He made it bigger, louder, and more exciting. He packed arenas and got people interested. He made wrestling feel important to people outside of it as well.
Blanchard explained that even if you didn’t grow up watching Hogan, or whether you liked him or not, if you’re part of the wrestling world, you’ve felt his influence. It’s in the reaction of the crowd, the energy when you walk out to perform and the way wrestling works today.
“And Hulk Hogan — he wasn’t just a wrestler. He was wrestling for an entire generation. He brought so many eyes to this business. He made it bigger. He made it brighter. He made it louder. He filled arenas. He got people hooked. He made wrestling feel important to the world outside of professional wrestling.
So whether you grew up watching him or not, whether you love him or hate him or fall somewhere in between, if you’re a part of this business, you felt his impact. You feel it when the crowd pops. You feel it when you hit the curtain. You feel it in the way this industry even exists the way it does today.”
Tessa Blanchard also said that Hulk Hogan wasn’t perfect, but no one is. She talked about how people are quick to judge others based on their worst moments and forget that they’re human. She believes people are complicated, and that includes both her and Hogan. No one gets to decide who’s good or bad based only on part of the story.
Blanchard said that if you’ve ever felt misunderstood or judged unfairly, you’d understand her point. Tessa didn’t want to focus on the bad stuff. She wanted to remember the good things Hogan did, the things that helped change lives and shape wrestling.
The TNA star also said that people turning Hogan’s death into an online debate are missing the point. This is a time to show respect, to give his family time to grieve and to remember that Hulk Hogan gave everything to wrestling.
“Now, I’m not going to sit here and act like he was perfect. None of us are. But people love to jump on that — to pick people apart and have their worst day define them for the rest of their lives. And sometimes it’s like… it’s like they forget the human underneath all of it.
People are complicated. That includes me. That includes him. Not one of us gets to decide who’s good or bad like everything we hear is automatically fact. That’s not how real life works. And if you’ve ever been misunderstood or judged by people who never really knew you, then you get it.
Some people only want to talk about the worst version of someone. And I’m really not interested in that. I’m here to talk about the parts that mattered — the parts that changed lives, the parts that made this business what it is today.
You don’t have to agree with someone’s life or what they’ve done to appreciate the mark they’ve left behind. And you can honor a legacy even if the story isn’t perfect — because none of our stories are perfect.
So to the people turning this death into a trending debate — y’all can miss me with that right now. It’s about respect. It’s about giving his family space to grieve. It’s about remembering that at the end of the day, Hulk Hogan gave his life to this business — and he undeniably changed it forever. So rest easy, Hulk. And thank you for everything that you’ve given us.”
It’s to be noted that Tessa Blanchard has been branded as a controversial figure in wrestling after indie wrestler La Rosa Negra accused her of using a racial slur and spitting on her, which Blanchard denied ever happened. Therefore, fans find it very ironic how Blanchard came to Hogan’s defense, considering her own reputation.
