TNA Wrestling started 2025 with the Genesis pay-per-view at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas. Among the biggest matches of the night was one between two former champions that wasn’t even for a title.

Jordynne Grace lost the TNA Knockouts Title to Masha Slamovich at Bound For Glory 2024, but she wasn’t done in the company. Since then, Tessa Blanchard made her big return to the company and the two clashed at Genesis.

Jordynne Grace, being from Austin, Texas, was the huge babyface for this match. Of course, the fact that Tessa Blanchard was back in a TNA ring was more than enough of a reason to capture their interest.

This match got started in a hurry, as Jordynne Grace took the fight to Tessa Blanchard. Naturally, Tessa did a lot of bumping around the ring until they took thing to ringside thanks to a suicide dive from Grace and a jackhammer on the outside.

The two fought in a brutal back-and-forth mach, which included a few close two counts. Grace also landed a rolling DVD off the ring steps onto the floor that took a toll on both of them as fans chanted, “This is awesome!”

When they returned to the ring, Tessa Blanchard got another near fall after hitting a crucifix driver from the top rope. The match continued as both competitors traded power moves, but neither of them was willing to let the other get a pinfall.

Tessa Blanchard nailed a buzzsaw on Grace that smashed her head off the bottom turnbuckle’s exposed steel. Then Blanchard ripped off the second pad entirely. Grace took a bulldog into the exposed buckle and then Tessa nailed a Magnum off the top rope to win the match.

Tessa Blanchard was TNA World Champion when she was released from the company. This came after a ton of stories about her backstage bullying antics and use of the N-Word. Blanchard was called out for spitting on La Rosa Negra and calling her the N-Word while on a tour of Japan. This was followed by a slew of wrestlers coming forward about her backstage bullying.

It was reported that she was nuclear, something that the third generation pro wrestler cashed in on. She worked for WOW Women of Wrestling, where she butt heads with then-executive producer AJ Lee before she was released, and she also spent some time in Mexico and on the indies.

Talks of Blanchard’s return to TNA Wrestling have been brewing since mid-2024. Tessa Blanchard has yet to make amends with those she offended during her first TNA Wrestling run. After her return to the company, Jordynne Grace took a brutal shot at Tessa’s departure, and that sparked this matchup.
