Austin Creed may be in AEW now and Tyler Breeze may no longer be under WWE contract, but UpUpDownDown isn’t going anywhere with either of them. Breeze just revealed who actually owns the gaming brand they spent years helping build.
A fan asked Creed and Breeze on Twitter about the future of UpUpDownDown now that both men are outside WWE. More specifically, the fan wanted to know whether Creed and Breeze owned the channel themselves or whether it belonged to WWE.
The question also came with a pretty interesting possibility. With Creed now in AEW, the fan wondered if he could eventually recreate the old UpUpDownDown magic with people like Adam Cole, Evil Uno and Kenny Omega. Breeze quickly cleared that part up.
“WWE owns upup.”
That’s about as straightforward as it gets. UpUpDownDown was created around Creed during his WWE career and became closely associated with him outside the ring. Breeze eventually became another huge part of the channel, particularly through Battle of the Brands and his gaming rivalry with Creed. Now both of them are gone from WWE. Creed and Kofi recently joined AEW as The New Level, and their arrival came together incredibly late. Kofi revealed that they didn’t officially sign their AEW contracts until less than 24 hours before making their All In debut.
“The funny thing is, it didn’t really solidify until less than 24 hours before the show. We didn’t sign before less than 24 hours before. It wasn’t officially official until very soon before the kickoff time.”
Creed clearly isn’t leaving gaming behind just because he left WWE. He recently talked about finally having more freedom to pursue his interests in the video game industry now that he’s in AEW. UpUpDownDown, however, is one thing he apparently won’t be taking along for that ride. The faces that made UpUpDownDown what it was may have moved on, but the name stayed behind. Now WWE has to decide what UpUpDownDown looks like without them.
