The Stadium Stampede match at Double or Nothing had plenty of chaos, but it was apparently held back by New York rules.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, the New York State Athletic Commission wouldn’t allow blood or brawling through the crowd for Stadium Stampede or the rest of the event. That meant AEW had to keep the match violent without crossing certain lines usually expected from the stipulation.
Team Jericho still walked away with the win in the wild co-main event. The finish came after Bishop Kaun pushed Ricochet out of the way before Chris Jericho could finish him off during a sequence of Team Jericho moves. Kaun ended up eating a seven-way superkick before Jericho hit a lionsault for the pinfall victory.
Before that, the match saw several major table spots. Bobby Lashley speared Mark Davis through a table after earlier back suplexing Toa Liona through another one. The Young Bucks took out The Dogs with stereo top-turnbuckle elbow drops through tables, while Kenny Omega hit Andrade with the One Winged Angel through a table on the outside.
The Stadium Stampede match featured Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Jack Perry, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin against Ricochet, Toa Liona, Bishop Kaun, Clark Connors, David Finlay, Mark Davis, and Andrade.
Even with the New York State Athletic Commission restrictions in place, AEW still loaded Stadium Stampede with big spots and a decisive win for Team Jericho. Still, the ban on blood and crowd brawling explains why the match may have felt different from past versions of the stipulation.
