AEW made a change at the commentary desk during the taping for the September 5 episode of Collision, with Walker Stewart working as an announcer for the show.

AEW taped the episode on September 2 from the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, and Stewart was part of the broadcast team during the taping. Stewart is already well known for his commentary work with New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom, but this marked his first time calling an AEW show. It remains unclear whether Stewart’s appearance was a one-night assignment or the beginning of a regular role with AEW.

Stewart’s work outside AEW has earned him plenty of attention for his preparation and knowledge, although Collision presents a different broadcast environment from what he has been doing in Japan.

For now, the bigger question coming out of the taping is whether Walker Stewart was simply brought in for one night or whether AEW is preparing to give him a larger role on Collision going forward.

Would you like to see Walker Stewart become a regular member of AEW’s commentary team? Let us know what you think in the comments.
