Dominik Mysterio just lost a pretty massive insurance policy ahead of Triplemanía 34. Omos was supposed to be the kind of backup nobody wants to deal with—then one confrontation with Rey Mysterio took him completely out of the equation.
During the latest set of AAA TV tapings following the August 15 edition of AAA Lucha Libre, things broke down after Omos’ match against Galeno del Mal. Rey Mysterio came out following the match, and Omos immediately grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up for a chokeslam.
That’s when Dominik came out. With his father still in Omos’ grasp, Dominik encouraged the giant to go through with it and hit the chokeslam. Omos kept Rey up in the air for several moments, but ultimately decided against dropping him.
Rey responded by indefinitely suspending Omos from AAA. Dominik looked shocked by the decision, while Omos apparently decided that if he was getting suspended anyway, he might as well leave Rey with something to remember, so he punched the AAA General Manager.
The timing couldn’t be much worse for Dominik. The AAA Mega Champion is set to defend his title against El Grande Americano on September 13 during Night Two of Triplemanía 34 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. Having Omos anywhere near ringside would have given Dominik one enormous advantage, but that option is now gone.
Dirty Dom has plenty of time to come up with another trick before September 13. He might need one, because El Grande Americano just watched the biggest possible piece of Dominik’s backup get suspended indefinitely.
