The August 7 edition of WWE SmackDown included a lot of surprises. Shinsuke Nakamura returning with backup wasn’t on our bingo card.
WWE aired a promo for Shinsuke Nakamura this week on SmackDown. He said he is back, but “this time he will not be alone.” He is no longer a one-man army. He said that this is a warning, and everyone is running out of time.
Shinsuke Nakamura’s last real run on WWE television started to cool off after a string of mid-card feuds, with his last major appearance coming in the summer of 2025. There were also reports that WWE was making some creative changes around him.
There were even rumors that Nakamura wanted to appear at Hiroshi Tanahashi’s retirement events and Wrestle Kingdom, but WWE reportedly didn’t allow him to work for NJPW while under contract. That led to speculation that he could be done with WWE, but that clearly wasn’t the case. The King of Strong Style was never finished with WWE. He may have simply needed some time away.
