WWE’s NXT brand brought a fun episode to the CW on June 23. The brand has invited competitors from a variety of places, and EVOLVE’s championship received a big focus this week.
Aaron Rourke put his EVOLVE Championship on the line this week against an NXT newcomer. Tristan Angels has been a high point for many fans since his debut on the brand, and this week he looked to become a champion for a different brand.
This match kicked off NXT, and Mr. NXT was ready to get a shot at the EVOLVE Title. After a big match feel set of introductions from Mike Rome, they got things going.
The lights flashed red midway through the match, and what sounded like Shiloh Hill’s voice was heard laughing. That threw off Angels for a moment, but he was able to turn things around before they went to commercial break.
Aaron Rourke was able to fight back, and he hit several high-impact offensive moves. There were a few near falls along the way as Tristan Angels and Aaron Rourke fought to win over the NXT fan base. Suddenly, someone grabbed Tristan Angels at ringside and dragged him underneath the ring.
He tried to get back out from underneath the ring, but he was pulled back in. Then he made his way back into the ring just in time to eat Rourke’s Molly-Go-Round off the top rope for the win. Wade Barrett said on commentary that Tristan was almost eaten. Only time will tell what’s next in this storyline.
