The Casino Gauntlet is coming back at All In at Wembley this weekend, but some of AEW’s bigger names apparently aren’t exactly fighting to get into it. Compared to previous years, the backstage attitude toward the match sounds a little different this time around.
While speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed that a number of upper-level wrestlers in the company simply don’t want to be part of this year’s Casino Gauntlet.
“Interestingly, compared to other years, it seems now internally, the vibe is that a lot of, like, upper-level guys don’t want to be in this match.”
That doesn’t mean the match is short on star power right now. Andrade El Idolo has already secured the #1 position, while MJF will enter at #2. Tommaso Ciampa has also declared himself for the match, and Self Made described Andrade and MJF as the two main characters of the whole thing.
“As for what’s on the show right now, we have a Casino Gauntlet. Andrade and Max are the main characters of this.”
There are still plenty of names AEW can throw into the match, and the Casino Gauntlet is pretty much built for that. Every time AEW runs one, there’s always the possibility of somebody returning, somebody debuting or a completely unexpected name walking through the curtain.
This time, though, some of the obvious choices apparently don’t want in. That could actually make the surprises harder to predict. Andrade, MJF and Ciampa are already in the mix, but if some of AEW’s upper-level talent is sitting this one out, there are suddenly a lot more spots for Tony Khan to play around with at Wembley.
