Brock Rechsteiner will not make the New Orleans Saints’ Week 1 roster. The son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner was waived as the team cut its roster down to 53 players.
NFL reporter Nick Underhill broke the news on X, citing a source close to the situation.
“The Saints waived WR Brock Rechsteiner, according to a source.”
Rechsteiner joined New Orleans as an undrafted free agent after playing wide receiver at Jacksonville State. He participated in the Saints’ rookie minicamp before signing with the team on May 12. The 25-year-old was already facing a six-game suspension to begin the 2026 NFL season for violating the NFL-NFLPA policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Now that Rechsteiner is without an NFL team, questions will immediately turn toward WWE. He signed an NIL deal with the company in February 2025 and previously said he intends to pursue professional wrestling once his football career ends.
Rechsteiner has also spoken with his cousin, WWE Superstar Bron Breakker, about following the family into the business. Along with Scott Steiner as his father, Rechsteiner is the nephew of Rick Steiner, giving him one of wrestling’s most recognizable bloodlines. Another NFL team could still give Rechsteiner a shot, but his release from the Saints may bring his potential WWE move closer than expected.
