Scorpio Sky is not buying the claim that he cannot cut a promo. As far as he is concerned, the fans saying he has no charisma are simply haters.

While speaking on Tagging In with Chris Harris, Sky addressed the criticism that has followed him throughout his AEW run. He made it clear that he does not believe his promo ability is the problem.

“My detractors will point to that. They’re like, ‘He can’t cut a promo,’ or, ‘He doesn’t have charisma.’ Really, those are just haters.”

Sky said the bigger issue is whether a wrestler is actually given something worth talking about. Handing someone a microphone with no real direction is one thing. Giving them a character and a story is completely different. Sky then made an even bigger claim about what he can do when the material is there.

“When you give me a mic, I can tell a story, especially if there’s a story to tell. When I’m given a character or a story, I can kill it.”

He also said his confidence on the microphone has not gone anywhere, even though AEW has not given him many chances to show it lately. Sky admitted he still cuts promos to himself when he is alone, whether he is driving, walking around the house or standing in the shower. Sky said the ability is still there. The opportunities are not.

“You have days where you’re walking around the house, driving or in the shower, and you cut a promo to yourself. It’s there, man. I still got it. I just don’t get a mic a ton.”

He also made it clear he would have no problem stepping back into a verbal battle with Chris Jericho.

“I’d love to get back in there with Chris Jericho or whoever.”

Sky has already traded words with Jericho before, and he considers that face-to-face promo one of the best moments of his career. He believes he held his own against one of wrestling’s strongest talkers, and he clearly wants another chance to prove he can still do it.

The frustration runs deeper than promo time. Near the end of the interview, Chris Harris praised Sky’s intelligence, experience and ability to help younger wrestlers. Sky admitted those words hit him because he does not always feel like he gets the respect he has earned.

“For someone like myself who feels like I may never get the respect that I feel I deserve, hearing someone like you speak that well about me truly means a lot.”

Sky said support from fellow wrestlers and veterans helps him on the days when he is questioning where his career is going.

“Having the respect of your peers and the people who came before you gives you comfort on those days where you’re having doubts and you’re not really sure what’s next.”

Scorpio Sky is not taking the blame for his lack of promo moments in AEW. He says he can talk, he can tell a story and he can deliver when there is something real to work with. Now AEW either gives him the microphone or leaves that claim untested.
