WWE SmackDown rolled into the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma this week, but Sami Zayn was nowhere to be found. That being said, his impact was still felt on television in some capacity.

The former Undisputed WWE Champion never appeared on the show, though fans did get an update on his status during a backstage segment near the end of the first hour. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis was shown taking a phone call from Zayn, with fans only hearing Aldis’ side of the conversation. So Zayn got the night off, but he was able to speak his mind regardless.

During the one-sided call, Nick Aldis revealed that Sami Zayn was taking a “mental health break” this week. That explained his absence from SmackDown.

It also became very clear that Sami Zayn was frustrated with the current Undisputed WWE Championship picture. CM Punk defending the title against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam after Punk captured the championship from Zayn on RAW really rubbed the Underdog from the Underground the wrong way.

We will have to see what is next, but Sami Zayn will likely be very upset when he makes his way back to WWE television after a 9-day Undisputed WWE Championship reign.

What’s your take on Sami Zayn taking a mental health break from WWE television? Do you think that he will come back and get another title shot? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
