Samantha Irvin is clearing up one of the biggest stories surrounding her WWE exit, and according to her, people have had it wrong for the last two years. Irvin says she didn’t leave WWE to chase a music career — and she actually turned down a record deal from the company because she wanted to manage wrestlers instead.

Irvin jumped on Twitter and directly addressed the idea that music was behind her WWE departure. She revealed that WWE was willing to help her go down that road, but she had zero interest in making it her next career move.

“WWE offered me a record deal, to which I politely declined because I have no interest in the music business! My interest was in managing wrestlers. And that’s all I’ve ever expressed.”

Irvin did release some music after leaving WWE, but she says people read way too much into it. According to her, she was simply having fun with some of her former Cirque du Soleil colleagues and making something for fans who already knew her as a singer.

“I made some songs last year for fun & videos with my colleagues from Cirque du Soleil and released independently for my singing fans from before wrestling but other than that, I made no proclamations about or efforts towards a ‘music’ career 🙏🏽”

It’s also not like Irvin still had something to prove as a singer. She pointed out that she already had a pretty successful run in that world long before WWE came calling.

“Singing career wise, I’ve had a fantastic one, though!!! Saw the world multiple times over ❤️”

One fan wasn’t buying it and told Irvin that wasn’t what people were hearing when she originally left WWE. Irvin fired back with a very simple response about what she says she actually wanted all along.

“The only thing I said was that I wanted to be a manager.”

That’s where things get interesting, because a very different story came out after Irvin left WWE in October 2024. Bryan Alvarez reported at the time that she had outside projects she wanted to pursue but couldn’t figure out how to make them work alongside her WWE schedule.

“She’s got some outside projects she wants to do, couldn’t come to terms with how it worked with WWE and off she goes.”

Dave Meltzer also reported that Irvin had been thinking about leaving for nearly a year because she wanted to focus more on music. Two years later, Irvin is now flat-out saying that wasn’t what she was trying to do.

“She’s actually been thinking about it for a year. She’s a singer, she also plays the flute, but she wants to get more involved in her music. It was just something that she’d been talking about for a long, long time, and finally pulled the trigger on it. And that’s about it, really.”

The timing couldn’t be much better for Irvin to clear all of this up. Fightful Select recently reported that her two-year WWE non-compete is coming to an end this month, while AEW has already discussed the possibility of using her in an on-screen role at some point down the road.

After two years of people talking about Irvin supposedly leaving wrestling behind for music, she’s now telling fans that was never the plan in the first place. With her non-compete finally wrapping up, the bigger question now is whether she’ll finally get the chance to become the wrestling manager she’s been talking about.
