Samantha Irvin has seen the reports about AEW being interested in bringing her in, and she seems pretty happy about it.
The former WWE ring announcer is approaching the end of her two-year non-compete agreement, and news that AEW has discussed using her on television has now caught her attention. She even had a playful response to finding out her name had come up behind the scenes. On October 23, Irvin reacted to the news on Twitter, sharing a blushing cartoon GIF alongside a short message.
“they internally discussed me?! 😊”
Her reaction came after it was reported that AEW had discussed bringing Irvin, whose real name is Samantha Johnson, into the company for an on-screen role on multiple occasions.
According to the report, Irvin is set to become a free agent in October 2026 after spending two years under a non-compete agreement following her WWE departure in 2024. Unlike the usual termination periods associated with WWE releases, her agreement was described as an actual non-compete restriction.
While AEW has discussed bringing her in, an immediate television appearance reportedly isn’t planned. If she does eventually join the promotion, it would likely happen sometime further down the road. Irvin already has plenty of connections to AEW. Her husband, Ricochet, works for the company, and she’s attended dozens of AEW events backstage since leaving WWE.
There’s also the question of what she would actually do if she joined. Irvin has previously made it clear that she isn’t particularly interested in returning to ring announcing, meaning a potential AEW appearance could involve something completely different. For now, Irvin’s response shows she’s aware of the interest, but she hasn’t confirmed any negotiations or plans to join the company.
Do you think Samantha Irvin will eventually show up in AEW alongside Ricochet, or will she pursue something outside wrestling once her non-compete expires? Let us know in the comments.
