LA Knight coming up short against Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank left a lot of fans frustrated, but Ryback thinks people are looking at the result all wrong.

After social media filled with complaints about Knight losing another world title match, Ryback jumped onto Twitter to defend both WWE’s booking and LA Knight himself. In his view, losing to Roman Reigns doesn’t hurt Knight one bit because wrestling has never been about wins and losses alone.

“There will come a day when professional wrestlers are celebrated for their performances rather than judged by scripted wins and losses. LA Knight losing to Roman Reigns doesn’t diminish his talent or value. Without performers embracing their roles, bigger stories cannot be told.

Professional wrestling is an illusion of real competition. A character can lose 100 times and be portrayed as an unstoppable winner tomorrow with the right storyline. Opportunities outside of wrestling should NEVER be determined by predetermined wins and losses, but by the characters we portray, our acting abilities, and how well we entertain audiences. It’s time we celebrate professional wrestling for the art form it truly is, and the men and women who bring those stories to life.”

Ryback’s comments came after many fans argued that WWE missed a huge opportunity by having Knight lose yet another world title match. Others also pointed to the decision to open the show with Reigns vs. Knight, saying it removed any possibility of a Money in the Bank cash-in on the World Heavyweight Champion later that night.

Ryback, however, sees the bigger picture. Instead of focusing on the result, he believes fans should judge wrestlers by how well they perform and the stories they help tell, arguing that a scripted loss doesn’t suddenly make someone less valuable.

Whether fans agree with that take is another story. LA Knight remains one of WWE’s most popular stars, and judging by the reaction after Money in the Bank, plenty of people are still waiting for the day he finally wins the big one.

Do you agree with Ryback’s view on LA Knight’s loss, or do you think WWE should have pulled the trigger on Knight as World Heavyweight Champion? Let us know in the comments.
