RUSH was genuinely hurt about missing AEW All In: London, but he doesn’t want anyone mistaking that disappointment for unhappiness with Tony Khan. El Toro Blanco says he remains grateful to his AEW boss, even if the opportunities haven’t exactly been coming his way very often.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, RUSH explained what was really behind the message he posted before All In. He said fans around the world expected to see him at Wembley, and he wanted to be there just as badly.
“That’s why I put out that tweet, because there were a lot of fans who, nowadays thanks to my work, are all over the world. Now, all over the world they love and expect to see El Toro Blanco.”
For RUSH, All In isn’t just another AEW show. He compared its importance to the major anniversary events he experienced during his career in Mexico, making Wembley one of the biggest stages he could possibly reach in the company.
“A lot of them expected to see me at Wembley in London, at what is… how can I explain it? In my time back in Mexico, it was like an anniversary show. So that’s the biggest thing here in the company.”
Missing Wembley also wasn’t a one-year disappointment. RUSH joined AEW in 2022 and has never competed at All In, and he admitted it hurt after repeatedly working toward that opportunity without getting it.
“It wasn’t one year. It wasn’t the second. It wasn’t the third. Every year I’ve worked more and more, so what do you expect, right? Nevertheless, my moment didn’t come. Yeah, I did get a little… why would I say I didn’t? It did make me sad, honestly.”
That public disappointment apparently led some people to wonder whether RUSH was angry with AEW or even thinking about leaving. He shut that down and made it clear that his feelings about missing All In don’t reflect how he feels about Tony Khan.
“A lot of people told me, ‘What, man? Are you angry now? Are you going to another company?’ No. I’m grateful, and she knows it, she won’t let me lie. I’m very grateful to my boss.”
In fact, RUSH sees a positive side to not being used when AEW doesn’t have something meaningful planned for him. He would rather spend that time with his family than simply appear on television without a strong storyline.
“I’m grateful to Tony, honestly. Why? Because I’d prefer a thousand times that if he doesn’t have a great storyline for me, then he lets me continue enjoying my family here. Imagine that. I mean, imagine having this time. That’s a blessing, right?”
That doesn’t mean RUSH believes he’s been given a ton of opportunities. He openly acknowledged that there haven’t been many, but he believes he’s delivered whenever AEW has actually put the ball in his hands.
“So, I’m grateful. I’m grateful for every opportunity he’s given me. Like I said, there haven’t been very, very many, but the few that have come my way, I’ve made the absolute most of them.”
RUSH may still be disappointed that another All In passed without him, but he isn’t packing his bags over it. He wants bigger opportunities in AEW, and he clearly believes his work has earned them. Until Tony Khan has something worthwhile for him, though, El Toro Blanco would rather enjoy his family than complain about sitting at home.
