RUSH may have just shut down the idea of going to AAA, but he isn’t giving WWE the same treatment. El Toro Blanco says his present remains with AEW and he still has major goals there, but when it comes to WWE being part of his future, he’s going with “never say never.”
While answering fan questions on his YouTube channel on September 6, RUSH was asked whether WWE could eventually be in his future. He didn’t pretend to know what will happen, but he also deliberately stopped short of ruling it out.
“I don’t know, brother. Honestly, I don’t know. Right now, my present is here and I have big goals here, but never say never, right? Honestly.”
There’s also a reason RUSH is paying attention to the WWE question. He says plenty of his own fans have been asking to see him there, and their opinions matter more to him than his El Toro Blanco character might suggest.
“More than anything, I see that all the fans of El Toro Blanco RUSH want me to go over there, and the fans matter a lot to me, even if you don’t believe it.”
RUSH explained that the ruthless personality fans see inside the ring isn’t necessarily the person they’re getting outside of it. When it comes to the people supporting him, he says he has always tried to give them his respect.
“You already know that inside the ring I don’t respect any bastard and all that, but outside the ring, I have respect for all my fans. Always, always. I’ve always shown you that when I’m in Mexico.”
The WWE conversation didn’t end there. Another fan later went in the opposite direction and told RUSH they hoped he would never join WWE because the company would “ruin” his career.
RUSH didn’t agree with that criticism or take a shot at WWE. Instead, he pointed out that his fans are split, with some wanting him to make the jump and others wanting him to stay exactly where he is.
“Yeah, brother. Every person is a world of their own. Every fan is a world of their own. Some tell me, ‘Go over there.’ Others tell me, ‘Stay.’ That’s how it’s always going to be. Always.”
Whatever eventually happens, RUSH made it clear he isn’t sitting around waiting for someone else to decide his future. He says he’s continuing to work and stay ready while keeping his career, family and supporters in mind when the time comes to make decisions.
“Believe me, I’m not sitting around doing nothing. We’re still here. We’re still working hard, always keeping ourselves ready. Believe me, I’m always going to look for what’s best for my career, what’s best for my family and what’s best for my fans, right? For all my followers who always support El Toro Blanco RUSH, who have been with me from zero.”
The timing makes his answer particularly interesting. Just two days earlier, a fan suggested RUSH could be useful to WWE-owned AAA, only for him to immediately respond, “No thanks, my present is #aew.” He hasn’t wrestled for AEW since the July 1 Collision tapings and was also left off All In: London.
RUSH still isn’t saying he wants out of AEW, and he repeatedly made it clear that he has unfinished business where he is. The difference is that when AAA came up, he gave fans a flat “no thanks.” When WWE came up, he left that door open.
