Royce Keys isn’t losing any sleep over fans throwing drinks at 946 during WWE RAW. In fact, the WWE star says the whole thing reminded him of old-school wrestling, and he seems pretty happy that the faction is getting people worked up enough to react that way.

Speaking on The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show, Keys discussed how much attention 946 has been getting lately. He explained that the group’s popularity has started following him outside WWE, with random people recognizing him in public and shouting the faction’s name.

“It feels good ’cause, you know, you go out in public and just random people come up to you yelling, ‘946,’ and, you know, ‘Oh, you’re part of 946,’ this and that.”

The hosts joked that most people probably wouldn’t want to approach someone Keys’ size too aggressively. That’s when Keys brought up what happened during a recent episode of RAW, revealing that some fans had actually thrown beers at the faction.

“I ain’t had nobody try to run up on me yet. But, you know, we had a few people this past Monday throw some beers at us.”

Keys was referring to the October 12 episode of WWE RAW, where 946 made their entrance through the crowd ahead of their match against Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa. A video circulating online showed a drink being thrown toward Lucien Price, with police officers later escorting the fan responsible out of the arena.

However, Keys didn’t sound particularly upset when discussing the incident. Instead, he revealed that he’d seen the footage on Instagram and said the reaction reminded him of the kind of wild crowds associated with Mid-South wrestling.

“Yeah. It was on Instagram. Like, it was—it was like, man, I almost felt like I was, like, back in the Mid-South days. You know what I’m saying?”

The hosts then asked whether getting fans angry enough to react like that was actually a good thing for the faction. Keys seemed to think so, pointing out that people were getting genuinely emotional about what 946 was doing on television.

“But it was just like, man, people really in their feelings. Like, when they start doing that, it’s kind of good, right? It’s like, you know, we doing our thing.”

The conversation then turned to staying in character despite the reactions they were getting. When the subject came up, Keys made it clear that maintaining that presentation was part of the job.

“That’s right. You know, instead of staying—just staying character. I have to.”

The incident came on a pretty eventful night for 946, as their match against The Bloodline ended in chaos after Carmelo Hayes attacked Solo Sikoa with a tire iron and revealed himself as the faction’s newest ally. That gave the group another major moment on RAW, although the drink-throwing incident quickly attracted attention of its own.

Keys clearly enjoys seeing fans get emotionally invested in 946, even when the reaction gets a little out of hand. Throwing drinks at wrestlers is another matter, though, and the fan’s removal showed that there are still consequences for crossing that line. For Keys, the bigger takeaway seems to be that 946 is getting exactly the kind of reaction the group wants.

Do you think Royce Keys has a point about 946 getting fans emotionally invested, or did the crowd take things too far? Let us know in the comments below.
