Roman Reigns has finally responded after Conrad Thompson spent weeks calling him one of the most overrated stars in WWE history, and the Tribal Chief doesn’t seem bothered in the slightest.

Speaking during an appearance on Club Shay Shay, Reigns was asked by Shannon Sharpe about Thompson’s comments and whether being labeled “overrated” bothered him, especially after Booker T publicly defended him.

Reigns laughed it off almost immediately. Instead of arguing about his accomplishments or trying to prove Thompson wrong, he suggested there’s a pretty simple reason people keep bringing up his name.

“No, because he—I mean, the truth is, are there a lot of people watching that guy’s show? So you’re going to say stuff. You already know. I’m trying to get—I’m a metric mover. That type of stuff, they know I give views and all that stuff, so it’s fine. I mean, it is what it is.”

Reigns wasn’t finished there. He also hinted that Thompson’s opinions might have more to do with who he’s associated with and who he supports than with any objective assessment of his career.

“But yeah, I mean, and if you look at the guy’s background, you already know where his support system—you know what I mean? You just got to do a scroll a little bit, and you see who he’s a fan of and stuff like that, and who he’s connected to. But no, if they want to use my name to get views, that’s the industry right now.”

The comments come after Thompson spent weeks criticizing Reigns, arguing he doesn’t belong on wrestling’s Mount Rushmore and previously calling him the most overrated main-event star in WWE history. The backlash even got personal, with Thompson posting an angry email from a Reigns fan after refusing to back down from his opinion.

Reigns, though, isn’t interested in going back and forth. As far as he’s concerned, his name moves the needle, and that’s exactly why people keep bringing it up. Whether you agree with Thompson or not, the OTC doesn’t sound like he’s losing any sleep over the criticism.

Do you think Roman Reigns is right that people use his name to generate attention, or do you agree with Conrad Thompson’s criticism? Let us know in the comments below.
