Road Dogg is about to do something fans haven’t seen him do in more than a decade — actually wrestle a match. The WWE Hall of Famer is getting back in the ring later this month, and he’ll be teaming with Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal as part of Jarrett’s big 40th anniversary celebration in Tennessee.
Jeff Jarrett’s All-Star Super Slam is set for October 22 at Veterans Park in Hendersonville, Tennessee as part of the annual Hendersonville Pig Fest. The main attraction will see Jarrett celebrate 40 years in professional wrestling by teaming with Road Dogg BG James and Jay Lethal against QT Marshall, Elijah Drago and Brady Booker.
That makes this a pretty big deal for Road Dogg because, according to Cagematch, his last official match came all the way back on January 25, 2015 at the WWE Royal Rumble. Road Dogg teamed with Billy Gunn as the New Age Outlaws that night and lost to The Ascension in a match that lasted 5:42.
In other words, by the time Road Dogg steps through the ropes on October 22, more than 11 years will have passed since his last match.
The timing is especially wild considering Billy Gunn said earlier this year that Road Dogg physically couldn’t wrestle anymore because of the toll years in the business had taken on his body. As Ringside News previously covered, Gunn shut down the idea of another New Age Outlaws run and made it sound like Road Dogg’s days taking bumps were completely finished.
Road Dogg has still been plenty busy around wrestling even without working matches. He left WWE’s SmackDown creative team earlier this year and later surfaced backstage at TNA Slammiversary while discussions were taking place about him potentially joining the company. Those talks ultimately stalled, with Ringside News later covering how the expected TNA deal never came together.
Now instead of sitting behind a desk or working backstage, Road Dogg is apparently dusting off the boots.
The rest of Jarrett’s All-Star Super Slam card is appropriately nuts for a show happening at something called Pig Fest. Mance Warner will face Derek Dillinger in a Concession Stand Brawl, while Colby Cowan, Alex Taylor, Tyler Shoop, Mike Bennett and Adrian Thomas will compete in a High School Showdown.
Mini Durango will also face Pico de Gallo in a Micro Madness Match, 1FW Ladies Champion Angela Risk will defend against Ashley D’Amboise, and El Torero, Magico and Quintero are booked for a Lucha Libre Showcase. The card will also feature the Pigfest 10-Man Gauntlet Battle Boar-Yal, because apparently a normal battle royal just wasn’t going to cut it.
Jarrett obviously has plenty to celebrate after 40 years in the business, but Road Dogg unexpectedly wrestling again may end up being one of the biggest talking points coming out of the entire show. Nobody was exactly expecting BG James to start taking bookings again after more than a decade away from the ring, especially after the way his physical condition had been described earlier this year.
Road Dogg has spent the last 11 years working everywhere around the ring except inside it. On October 22, that clock is finally set to reset, and fans in Hendersonville are going to get a comeback nobody had on their 2026 wrestling bingo card.
