John Cena has won plenty of expensive things throughout his career, but apparently his most valuable possession is a tiny rubber ring. The reason behind it has everything to do with his marriage and the realities of his Hollywood career.
During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, Cena was congratulated on getting married when the hosts noticed there was something unusual about his wedding ring. After Cena easily removed it, they realized it wasn’t a traditional metal wedding band at all.
“It is rubber.”
When the hosts questioned why Cena was wearing a rubber wedding ring, he explained that he wanted something he could keep with him all the time. Since his acting career requires him to constantly become different characters, a traditional ring would regularly have to come off and could easily get damaged.
“Yes. So, I want to be able to wear it all the time. And when I get the opportunity to play different characters, I have to take it on and off. And it gets scuffed up a lot.”
Despite how simple the ring looks, Cena made it clear that its actual value has nothing to do with what it cost. For him, that little piece of rubber means more than anything else he owns.
“But it means everything to me. It’s amazing that this little rubber hoop is the most valuable possession I have.”
For somebody who has collected WWE championships, movie memorabilia and plenty of other things over the years, Cena putting a rubber wedding ring above everything else says plenty about what matters to him these days. It also gives him a pretty practical solution whenever another acting role requires John Cena to disappear and somebody else to take his place.
