Jesse Ventura was expected to be part of SummerSlam weekend, but he never showed up. Before the event, reports claimed WWE had invited the Hall of Famer to Minneapolis and was even discussing giving him an on-screen role during the pre-show. When SummerSlam came and went without Ventura, fans were left wondering what happened.

Now there may finally be an answer. During an August 6 Q&A, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson was asked why Ventura didn’t appear at SummerSlam despite the show taking place in Minnesota—a state so closely associated with the WWE Hall of Famer. Johnson’s response was surprisingly straightforward.

“I believe Ventura lives in Mexico full-time now.”

While Johnson didn’t say whether Ventura was ever scheduled to travel to Minneapolis, the comment suggests the Hall of Famer may not have even been in the country during SummerSlam weekend.

The absence came as a surprise after it was previously reported that WWE had invited Ventura to the show and was internally considering featuring him on the SummerSlam pre-show if everything came together. Those discussions ultimately led nowhere, and Ventura never appeared on the broadcast.

For now, fans will have to keep waiting for Ventura’s next WWE appearance. But after SummerSlam came and went without “The Body,” this report may finally explain why one of wrestling’s most recognizable voices was nowhere to be seen.
