That foot-on-the-back moment between Bronson Reed and Oba Femi apparently wasn’t as personal as it looked. According to a new backstage report, Reed actually asked for the spot himself—and for a pretty understandable reason.

Speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed Reed already knew he was going to lose the feud to Oba Femi. Because of that, he reportedly wanted one big moment during the build where he could get some heat before eventually putting Oba over.

“That’s the actual reason why, like, when Bronson put his foot on Oba, part of it was like, ‘Yo, you’re gonnabeat me, bro. Let me get some heat. Please, let me get some heat on you, dude.’ Which is why he put his foot on him.”

That also makes what happened after their Money in the Bank match make a lot more sense. Fans spotted Oba standing over Reed with his foot on his back after the match, seeing it as payback for what happened on RAW. According to Self Made Pro, though, Reed actually told Oba to do it.

“And then at the end, you know, when they wrestled at Money in the Bank, he looked over to Oba and said, ‘Put your foot on me. You beat me. Put your foot on me,’ which is very professional.”

So what looked like Oba rubbing the win in Reed’s face was apparently the exact opposite behind the scenes. If this report is accurate, Reed wanted Oba to get the last word after the match and helped create one final visual to put the King of the Ring winner over.

Sometimes the best rivalries aren’t just about what happens on TV. According to this story, Reed knew his role, Oba got his big moment, and both guys ended up making the feud feel even bigger because of it.
