Randy Orton just stole a huge win from Cody Rhodes at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event. After a violent fight that spilled through the crowd, left Orton bloodied and took out multiple referees, The Viper pulled one last trick to pin Rhodes and escape with the victory.

The fight started before the bell even rang. Rhodes caught Orton trying to attack him from behind and the two immediately started brawling around ringside and into the crowd. Trash cans, the barricade and the steel steps all came into play before they finally made it back into the ring and officially started the match.

Once things settled down, neither man could put the other away. Rhodes hit a Cody Cutter and locked in a Figure Four, while Orton answered by repeatedly targeting Cody’s hand and dropping him across the ropes. The fight eventually spilled back outside, where Orton dropped Rhodes onto the announce table twice before getting into it with Cody’s family at ringside.

Brandi Rhodes eventually got involved by throwing a drink in Orton’s face, giving Cody the chance to take control. Rhodes fired back with a powerslam, Beautiful Disaster and the Bionic Elbow before both men started trading their biggest moves.

Things completely broke down when Cody accidentally wiped out the referee. Orton immediately hit an RKO, but there was nobody there to make the count. Cody later connected with Cross Rhodes and sent Orton crashing into the referee at ringside during a suicide dive, leaving the match without an official once again.

Rhodes then turned up the violence. He smashed Orton with the steel steps, repeatedly punched a bloodied Orton and hit another Cody Cutter before connecting with Cross Rhodes twice. Cody appeared ready to finish him off with a running kick while Orton was down on his hands and knees, but Orton put his hands up and begged him to stop.

That hesitation cost Cody everything. A second referee came down to check on Orton, and when Rhodes shoved him aside, Orton struck. Randy hit Cody with a low blow that also took out the replacement referee before drilling Rhodes with an RKO. The original referee recovered just in time to crawl over and count the three.

Randy Orton walked out of Sunday Night’s Main Event with the win, but he needed every dirty trick in the book to get it. Cody had Orton beaten down and vulnerable, but one moment of mercy gave The Viper exactly the opening he needed to strike.
