Queen Aminata re-signed with AEW in January 2026, but she is already being honest about the part nobody sees once the contract is signed.
In a new vlog, Aminata opened up about where her head is during this AEW run, saying her deal goes until next February, with injury time still to be added. She was not announcing an exit, but she did admit she is thinking about what comes next.
“I signed with AEW almost three years ago because I’m at the end of my contract, which is next February, plus injury time, which I don’t know how long that’s going to be.”
That came after Aminata admitted something a lot of wrestlers probably feel but do not always say out loud. Getting signed was the dream, but it does not mean every part of the dream feels the way she imagined. Then she broke down the weird trade-off that comes with finally making it.
“I’m just going to be blunt. I miss having fun matches. I miss back home. I also miss being challenged. You were on the indies like, ‘Hey, I want to get signed,’ and now you’re signed. You’re like, ‘Oh my God, I want to have these type of indie matches but on TV.’ But no, baby, that’s not how it works.”
For Aminata, all of this is tied to something much heavier than booking. She said wrestling became her escape after losing her father, but the heartbreaking part is that by the time she officially got signed, he was already gone.
“For the past two and a half years, I have to say wrestling has been my escape because when I lost my dad, I lost a lot of feelings. I lost a lot of motivation. And the goal and the dream was to get signed and tell, ‘You know what, Dad? I made it. I’m a professional wrestler. I’m signed and I’m on TV.’ But by the time I got signed officially, he was gone.”
That loss still follows her into the big moments. Aminata said those are the times she still wants to pick up the phone and call him. She said her father always told her to be patient, and that advice still sits with her now.
“These are moments like this when I grab my phone and call him like, ‘Hey, Dad, what’s up? I’m a little stressed,’ or this and that. He always says, ‘Patience is a virtue. So you have to be patient. Good things always take time. And when that time comes, nothing will stop it because that’s God’s calling.’”
Aminata also knows what she represents. She said being the only African woman wrestler on American television is a huge accomplishment, but she does not want that to be the finish line. As for what happens after this contract, Aminata is leaving that open:
“Being the one and only African woman wrestler on TV in America is a huge accomplishment. But to me, at this point, we’re halfway there. So there is more to come. I just have to find a way to light that fire back in my heart. So, who knows what God has planned for me after my contract expires. Who knows?”
This was not Queen Aminata teasing some dramatic AEW exit. It felt more like someone admitting that the dream can still be hard after you get it. She has the contract, she has the platform, and she knows what she means as the only African woman wrestler on American TV. Now she is trying to find the fire again before whatever comes next.
