Queen Aminata is still trying to process the fact that she’s the AEW TBS Champion. Days after capturing the title in the main event of Dynamite, Aminata has now admitted something pretty surprising — she walked into the match without actually expecting to leave with the belt.
Speaking on her YouTube channel on November 4, Aminata reflected on defeating Persephone for the TBS Championship during the October 28 episode of AEW Dynamite. She admitted that she had been dealing with a lot of stress leading into the match, and the reality of what happened didn’t fully hit her until afterward.
“I literally just got out of my room, and I feel like everything is sinking in now because throughout the day, like yesterday to today, I was under a lot of stress. Like, I was dealing with so much stuff.”
Then came the surprising part. Aminata revealed that she genuinely didn’t expect to become champion that night.
“And to be honest, not expecting to win today. I was expecting to have this match and maybe have another belt for the pay-per-view.”
Instead of simply wrestling Persephone on Dynamite and potentially getting another championship opportunity at an upcoming pay-per-view, Aminata found herself walking out of the main event with the TBS Championship already in her hands.
And considering how the match played out, she couldn’t have asked for a much bigger moment. Aminata had to deal with repeated interference from Britt Baker before finally putting Persephone away with a running knee to capture the title. For Aminata, getting the championship in a Dynamite main event against Persephone made the unexpected victory feel even more special.
“But I feel like everything happens for a reason, and I couldn’t have imagined a better way to win this belt than main eventing Dynamite and against Persephone. Like, this is perfect. This is amazing.”
Once the shock started wearing off, Aminata clearly wasn’t having any trouble enjoying her new hardware.
“This is pretty. This is juicy. This is mine. I am your new TBS Champion.”
Aminata might have walked into Dynamite thinking the match was simply setting up another opportunity down the road, but AEW had a much bigger night waiting for her. Now there’s no wondering when that next championship opportunity will come — she’s already the one everyone else has to chase.
