Liv Morgan’s WWE summer plans might be bigger than just Queen of the Ring, as WWE had plans for her to face IYO SKY at SummerSlam.
While speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed that WWE had originally mapped out creative plans from WrestleMania through SummerSlam. Before changes were made, the expectation was that Morgan would face IYO SKY at SummerSlam.
“I should caution people though in saying that this is the same company that right before Mania, they hammered out all their creative to Mania up until SummerSlam and then two weeks later they just changed a bunch of it.”
Self Made Pro made it clear that WWE changed several creative plans shortly after laying them out, so it is unclear whether Morgan vs. IYO remains the direction.
“They changed a bunch of it. What I will say is before the changes, the expectation was IYO SKY and Liv at SummerSlam, and so I don’t know if that stays, but that was an expectation.”
This comes after another report stated that WWE’s current direction for Morgan involves Stephanie Vaquer. Vaquer is still out after suffering a legitimate second-degree AC joint sprain, so WWE is keeping Morgan active in the Queen of the Ring tournament until that plan can move forward.
Morgan is set to face Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, and Chelsea Green on the June 8 episode of Monday Night RAW in a Fatal 4-Way to determine who advances in the tournament. She previously said she entered Queen of the Ring because she “wants it all,” despite already holding the Women’s World Championship.
IYO SKY has also advanced in the Queen of the Ring tournament, which could keep her near Morgan’s orbit depending on how the bracket plays out. Still, with WWE’s creative plans changing so quickly, SummerSlam remains uncertain. For now, Morgan’s title reign appears to be in a holding pattern while WWE waits on Vaquer, but the mention of IYO SKY shows there may be a very different SummerSlam plan on the table.
