Perry Saturn has finally explained just how bad his recent health scare got, and it sounds like he went through a brutal few days. The former WWE and ECW star says he contracted COVID-19 for the third time while also dealing with an upper respiratory infection that left him struggling to breathe and ultimately sent him back to the emergency room.

Speaking with Chase on his YouTube channel, Saturn revealed that his condition wasn’t improving even though he’d been vaccinated. His breathing became so difficult, and his voice got so bad, that he eventually had no choice but to return to the hospital.

“This is the third f***ing time I’ve had COVID. That seems a bit much to me. And I wasn’t getting better. So, I had to go back to the emergency room. I can’t breathe. I’m hacking up stuff. I had no sound would come out of my voice. Nothing. I couldn’t make a sound.”

Saturn revealed that doctors also diagnosed him with an upper respiratory infection. The good news is that once treatment for that infection started, he finally began feeling well enough to get back on his feet.

“And I have a URI, upper respiratory infection, that they just started treating. And two days into treatment, I’m up and moving around.”

Saturn isn’t sure whether COVID caused the respiratory infection, but he believes the infection itself was responsible for the worst of what he went through. He described coughing up thick mucus and having so much trouble breathing that he ended up spending roughly 48 hours in the emergency room.

“The URI is what I think really got me. You know, I was hacking up — because I’ve had COVID three times now. So, the first time I got it was really bad. The second time wasn’t that bad. This time, I’m not sure because I got this infection, too, which maybe I got because of COVID. I don’t know.”

Things got particularly nasty as Saturn’s breathing problems continued. He said what he was coughing up had become thick and almost rubber-like, and that’s when another hospital trip became unavoidable.

“But I was hacking up this yellow, this cream-colored, like rubber almost. It was coming up, you know, and I couldn’t breathe. So I had to go back to the hospital. And I was there for like 48 hours in the emergency room.”

The hospital stay wasn’t exactly smooth either. Saturn recalled being there for around 24 hours when a doctor told him they still didn’t know what was wrong, something that obviously wasn’t reassuring when he was having such a hard time breathing.

“I’m there now 24 hours, about, I’m in the emergency room, and the doctor tells me, ‘Well, I have no idea what’s wrong with you.’ Okay, well, we got to figure something out because I can’t go home, you know.”

On top of that, Saturn said the constant coughing had absolutely wrecked his throat. He was frustrated that he wasn’t initially getting enough relief from the cough itself and ended up bringing over-the-counter medicine with him.

“And they still didn’t give me anything for the cough. I brought cough medicine over the counter. I wish they’d give me something for the cough because that was killing me. My throat was so sore from coughing.”

Thankfully, Saturn is now doing considerably better. He confirmed that he’s recovering after beginning treatment, even if he’s clearly not back to 100 percent yet.

“I’m better. I’m getting there, man. I have like f***ing luck sometimes. I don’t know what the deal is.”

Saturn didn’t downplay how hard the upper respiratory infection hit him either. He said there was a point where he could barely get himself up because of how badly it had knocked him around.

“This URI was brutal. It just knocked my d*** in the dirt. I couldn’t get up, man. It was f***ing brutal.”

He’s also still relying heavily on cough medicine while recovering. Saturn even warned during the recording that the coughing could start up again while he was talking.

“I’m on so much cough medicine right now, so hopefully I don’t start coughing through this.”

Perhaps the most encouraging update came when Saturn described how much easier it had become to breathe and move around. He used a very wrestling-specific comparison to explain just how crushing the pressure on his chest had felt at its worst.

“I felt like I had Yokozuna sitting on my chest with Rikishi on his lap. I just felt like I couldn’t expand. And now I’m getting up, moving around better, you know.”

Saturn’s latest comments finally give some answers after Maven previously revealed that he had spent much of the week in and out of the hospital and had even been unreachable for a couple of days. He’s still recovering, but after COVID, a respiratory infection and roughly 48 hours in the emergency room, Saturn says he’s finally breathing better and moving around again.
