Penta already has one dream match idea on the table, and it would bring some serious TNA history into WWE.
While speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Penta was asked about the Lucha Bros’ classic matches with LAX during his TNA run. The chemistry between Penta, Rey Fenix, Santana, and Ortiz was no accident, and Penta made it clear he still has a lot of love for those battles. Penta praised Santana and Ortiz in a big way, saying their matches with the Lucha Bros were dangerous, beautiful, and special because all four men gave everything in the ring.
“I remember a lot of matches against LAX, Santana and Ortiz, two of the best guys in the world. They were friends for Lucha Bros too. I remember that match in TNA, the ladder match actually. It was amazing. It was dangerous, but at the same time, it was beautiful because when four people give everything in the ring, wrestling is very special.”
Penta said those matches hit around the world, not only in the United States. He also made it clear he would like to see LAX show up in WWE one day.
“That’s why LAX against Lucha Bros was amazing around the world, not only in the United States — UK, Ireland, Germany, a lot of tag team tournaments. It was very special. I think LAX is one of the best tag teams in the world. Now it’s different because Mike Santana is separate from Ortiz, but I prefer the tag team matches against LAX because it was special. Why not? I want to see LAX here too.”
That led the host to throw out a wild idea: Lucha Bros vs LAX in a WrestleMania ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Titles. Penta did not shut it down at all.
“Definitely.”
When asked if that sounded good, Penta gave the answer fans of those old matches probably wanted to hear. That match would be a serious callback for fans who followed those teams before WWE, but it would also be fresh for a much bigger audience. The Lucha Bros and LAX already proved they can tear the house down, and a WrestleMania ladder match would be one hell of a stage for it. There are a lot of moving pieces before something like that could happen, but Penta clearly likes the idea.
