Orange Cassidy’s signature denim look isn’t going anywhere, but one piece of his wrestling identity may finally be reaching the end of the line.
Cassidy revealed during a conversation with Simon Miller on Under The Mat With Simon Miller that the denim jacket fans have seen him wear for years dates all the way back to 2017 — and after nearly a decade of matches, travel and major events, he’s starting to think it belongs on a hanger for good.
The conversation started when Miller noticed that Cassidy was once again decked out in denim and questioned whether he owns multiple versions of the outfit or simply keeps wearing the same clothes. Cassidy joked that the answer might sound gross before making it clear that, yes, he actually washes his gear. He then revealed just how old the jacket really is.
“This could go to a museum. I’ve had this jacket and these—I don’t know these pants—but this jacket since 2017.”
That isn’t just some random jacket sitting in Cassidy’s closet either. He explained that it has traveled with him through several of the biggest moments of his wrestling career.
“And it’s been through some of the biggest matches of my career. It’s been through the biggest events of my career.”
After wearing it again for the interview, Cassidy admitted something finally felt different. For the first time, he found himself thinking the famous jacket may have done enough.
“I eventually—I actually put it on today and I was like, this is it. Might be time to hang her up.”
That doesn’t mean Cassidy is about to suddenly show up wearing a three-piece suit. When Miller questioned whether he had another jacket waiting in reserve, Cassidy made it clear his denim supply is doing just fine.
“Oh no, I have a whole closet full of denim. I just like it. I like the old tried and true.”
For a wrestler whose presentation has always looked intentionally effortless, that old jacket has quietly become one of the most recognizable pieces of Orange Cassidy’s entire act. If he really does retire the one he’s been wearing since 2017, it would close the book on a piece of gear that survived nearly his entire rise to becoming one of AEW’s most recognizable stars. Cassidy clearly isn’t giving up denim, but after almost a decade of dragging the same jacket through arenas, locker rooms and some of the biggest matches of his career, even “Freshly Squeezed” might finally be ready to let this one rest.
