Nikki Bella’s WWE comeback is taking another major step forward after her ankle injury, as she revealed she’s expected to step back in the ring soon and start training again. The WWE Hall of Famer has spent several weeks recovering from the ankle injury that derailed her planned WrestleMania 42 plans, but it sounds like she’s finally getting close to testing herself inside the ring again.
Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Nikki provided a significant update on her recovery and revealed that she expects to start getting back in the ring soon to see how her ankle responds now that she has regained more strength.
While discussing the rehab process, Nikki admitted that one of the biggest lessons she has learned is the importance of patience. Although she often feels capable of pushing harder, she knows doing too much too soon could create another setback.
“What I’ve had to constantly tell myself is start like you have to start somewhere. So there are things that I’m doing right now where I feel like I could be lifting heavier, I could be jumping higher, but that’s not what’s on track for me. That’s not a part of my healing. And it’s OK to start here and slowly build. So don’t give up. The slow build is actually the best because we get the best foundations. And that’s what I’m telling myself.”
The WWE Hall of Famer also revealed that she recently learned that lesson the hard way after trying to push beyond her current limits during a workout, as she ended up feeling pain in her ankle when she jumped too high.
“And I learned my lesson the other day because I was doing jumping and I got a little ahead of myself and I was like, I know I can jump even higher. And the minute I did it, I felt that through my ankle, like fire. And I was like, oh, wait, now I know my limit.”
The former Divas Champion also admitted that she canceled a planned trip to Italy with Brie because something didn’t feel right during her recovery process. Instead, she focused entirely on rehabilitation, and the results have been encouraging.
“When I originally had my trip booked to meet Brie, every night I wake up with anxiety about this trip. So that’s when I start to know it wasn’t, it wasn’t a right time for me to go to Tuscany. And being home, I’ve realized that I’ve really just have been hard working at my workouts and recovery and just getting really good news along the way. How much stronger I am, how my, you know, just everything looks great.”
Most importantly, Nikki Bella revealed that another round of X-rays is coming sooner than expected and that she plans to start testing things inside the ring shortly afterwards, making it clear she’s making good progress:.
“I’m getting my X-rays sent I think a week earlier. I’ll start to just get in the ring and dabble on how that feels.”
While she still isn’t putting a firm date on her comeback, getting back inside the ring is a major milestone and suggests her recovery is entering its final stages. With Nikki already discussing future character ideas and openly talking about another run in WWE, it appears her return is becoming less of an “if” and more of a “when.
