Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Championship reign lasted only nine days, but Natalya thinks getting knocked off by CM Punk could turn him into an even bigger babyface.

Zayn won the title from Cody Rhodes at Night of Champions on June 27 in a Triple Threat match that also included GUNTHER. His reign ended on the July 6 episode of WWE Raw when Punk returned and beat him after Rhodes was taken out by GUNTHER.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Natalya said fans may now see Zayn as someone who got screwed, especially after barely getting time to enjoy the championship.

“You might disagree with me, but I actually think that Sami is gonna come out of this as a massive, massive babyface. Remember when the fans were booing Sami when he was getting ready to wrestle Trick, and everybody was kind of turning on him? Well, as soon as our fans can turn on someone, they can get behind someone. People feel like Sami was screwed. He didn’t have the title for what, ten days? I don’t know, it feels like it could spark something really, really cool for Sami.”

Natalya also thinks the story gets even better if Punk turns heel and forces Zayn to fight his way back to the title.

“My favorite version of him is when he was a heel. I loved CM Punk as a heel with Paul Heyman. What I would personally love to see is heel CM Punk and Sami Zayn fighting, scratching and clawing his way back to what he lost.”

Zayn’s title reign may have been painfully short, but Natalya believes that is exactly why fans could rally behind him harder than ever.
