Myles Borne isn’t exactly losing sleep over Grayson Waller wearing a Stephanie Vaquer shirt on NXT. In fact, Borne thinks Waller’s attempt to troll him completely backfired because all he really did was spend his own money supporting Vaquer.
During an appearance on The Finish with Corey Smith and Tor Smith, Borne was asked about Waller recently showing up on NXT wearing Vaquer’s merchandise. Borne had already reacted to the stunt on social media, but he made it pretty clear that Waller wasn’t getting under his skin.
As Borne sees it, Waller literally paid money for Vaquer’s shirt just to try and mess with him. That’s not much of an insult when the money is ultimately helping the person you’re supposedly trying to use as bait.
“Yeah, I mean, he literally went out and spent his own hard-earned money on her T-shirt. I mean, all you did was put money on our table. You put food on our table that night. Thank you. I appreciate it. So, if you thought you got me, that’s not getting me. You’re contributing. You’re a fan at that point.”
Borne wasn’t finished there either. He thinks Vaquer’s shirt actually stole the entire segment because people were paying more attention to what Waller was wearing than anything coming out of his mouth.
“And I hate to say it, but everyone took away the T-shirt. You wore a T-shirt, and no one cared about what you were saying. They cared about the T-shirt because, at the end of the day, she, like it or not, she’s the biggest star.”
So if Waller wants to keep rocking Vaquer merch, Borne isn’t going to stop him. As far as he’s concerned, Waller can keep opening his wallet because he’s not getting the reaction he’s looking for.
“So, I mean, wear the T-shirt if you want to. I really don’t care. You just put food on our table. So, if you thought you got me, you didn’t get me.”
Waller wore the shirt during the October 14 episode of NXT when he pulled up to the parking lot and cut a promo about Borne facing Tony D’Angelo for a shot at his NXT Championship. However, this wasn’t the Stephanie Vaquer shirt Waller previously revealed WWE refused to let him wear on television.
That other shirt featured Vaquer’s viral Instagram photo where she recreated Shawn Michaels’ famous championship pose while wearing nothing but the Women’s World Championship. Waller had the image turned into a shirt and wanted to wear it on NXT, but WWE shut that idea down before it ever reached television.
“There’s some that haven’t ended up on TV. I don’t know if you remember that Stephanie Vaquer broke the internet recently. She did an Instagram story like Shawn Michaels — there was a T-shirt with that on it. That didn’t end up on TV.”
Instead, Waller showed up in regular Vaquer merch, and that apparently didn’t have the effect he was hoping for either. Borne has basically flipped the troll attempt around on him, and now Waller has the distinction of publicly buying merchandise for the woman he was trying to use to mess with his challenger.
