MVP is done hearing that The Hurt Syndicate doesn’t want to put people over in AEW. After weeks of chatter about Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP supposedly pushing back on creative, MVP jumped on Twitter and basically called the entire story BS.
MVP responded on Twitter after an account brought up several rumors surrounding the faction. Those included claims that The Hurt Syndicate had refused to put certain wrestlers over, that MVP was influencing Lashley and Benjamin to say no to ideas, and that he had backstage heat with important members of AEW creative. MVP didn’t dance around any of it. He flat-out denied the claims and even hinted that he may now have an idea where some of the rumors are coming from.
“Rumor? Nah man. You are absolutely Wrong!!!! None of this is true. But now I know where this whisper campaign is coming from! 😉”
Apparently that wasn’t enough, because MVP then opened Twitter and saw even more talk about The Hurt Syndicate. That’s when he really went off, calling the stories “blatant lies” and demanding to know who was feeding them to people.
“So I open up Twitter to see lies being reported about The Hurt Syndicate.
BLATANT LIES!!!
Who is the source of these lies?”
MVP also went directly after the idea that The Hurt Syndicate didn’t want to put other wrestlers over. According to him, they actually wanted to work with younger talent and were even willing to drop the AEW World Tag Team Championships back to Private Party.
“To the contrary, we wanted to work with younger talent! We wanted to drop the tag titles BACK to Private Party!!!
STOP BELIEVING THE BS!”
That Private Party comment certainly gets right to the heart of the controversy. Lashley and Benjamin previously took the AEW World Tag Team Titles from Private Party, and MVP is now saying The Hurt Syndicate wanted to eventually return the favor.
All of this comes after Sean Ross Sapp recently addressed the group’s situation on The Hump. While Sapp said he didn’t know why The Hurt Syndicate hasn’t been featured as consistently lately, he claimed there had been situations where members of the group didn’t want to put other wrestlers over.
“Listen, I know there’s been a lot of talk about them like not wanting to put people over. There’s definitely been some situations where they haven’t wanted to. That has been a thing.”
Sapp didn’t say which members allegedly pushed back, who they supposedly didn’t want to lose to or whether any of it had anything to do with their reduced television presence. Now MVP is pushing back hard against the narrative that The Hurt Syndicate has been difficult when it comes to putting other talent over.
Whatever is actually happening with The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW booking, MVP clearly isn’t staying quiet while these stories make the rounds. He’s denying the rumors, saying the group wanted to help younger talent and even claiming they were ready to put the titles back on Private Party.
