Mustafa Ali could be heading into free agency before long, as the former TNA International Champion’s contract is set to expire at the end of 2026 — and TNA has a decision to make about keeping him around.
According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, Ali’s current deal with TNA Wrestling runs through the end of the year. That puts him among the wrestlers whose futures with the company will need to be addressed before 2027 arrives.
Ali has become a valuable part of TNA’s roster, both inside and outside the ring. Along with his work as a former International Champion, he’s played a role in helping Jason Hotch develop throughout 2026. And apparently, Ali has been doing more for TNA than what viewers see on television.
While working independent wrestling dates this year, Ali has also been keeping an eye out for potential talent. He confirmed that he’s been informally scouting wrestlers and occasionally passing along recommendations to TNA management when he comes across someone worth considering.
That’s a pretty useful role for someone whose contract is approaching its expiration date, especially considering how much time Ali spends working outside the company.
The good news for anyone hoping to see Ali remain in TNA is that he’s held in high regard behind the scenes. Sources familiar with the situation expect TNA to make an offer to retain him, although there’s no confirmation that a new agreement has been reached.
For now, there’s nothing suggesting Ali has made a decision about leaving. His contract is simply nearing its end, and TNA will have to work out a new deal if the company wants to keep him on the roster.
Ali has already established himself as more than just another name on the TNA roster, and losing him would mean losing someone who has been contributing both in the ring and behind the scenes. Whether TNA can convince him to stick around or he decides to explore other opportunities is something worth keeping an eye on as the year winds down.
