WWE has revealed several new segments for tonight’s Backlash fallout edition of Friday Night SmackDown, adding more developments to the previously announced Cody Rhodes appearance.
One of the biggest stories heading into tonight’s show involves GUNTHER. WWE announced that “The Ring General” will decide whether he’s joining the SmackDown roster moving forward. If he signs the SmackDown contract tonight, his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes for Clash in Italy on May 31 will be locked in.
WWE also announced a special homecoming celebration for United States Champion Trick Williams. Tonight’s show takes place at Colonial Life Arena on the campus of the University of South Carolina, where Williams previously played college football before becoming a WWE Superstar.
Jade Cargill has also been added to tonight’s lineup following her return last week. Cargill interrupted a six-woman tag team match alongside B-Fab and Michin, costing Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss the match against Fatal Influence. WWE confirmed Cargill will address her actions tonight.
Here’s the updated lineup for tonight’s WWE SmackDown:
- Cody Rhodes appearance
- GUNTHER decides whether to join SmackDown and challenge Cody Rhodes at Clash in Italy
- United States Champion Trick Williams receives a homecoming celebration at the University of South Carolina
- Jade Cargill addresses her attack on Rhea Ripley
Tonight’s SmackDown is shaping up to be a major fallout show after Backlash, especially with WWE already building toward Clash in Italy later this month. Be sure to tune in live and follow along with Ringside News for full play-by-play coverage over in our SmackDown results section.
