Danhausen’s work with the New York Knicks may have opened a much bigger door in professional sports. Multiple NFL teams are now reportedly reaching out about working with the WWE star, including potentially bringing him into stadiums later this season.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, at least three NFL teams have inquired about possible promotional partnerships with Danhausen. The interest comes after his connection to the Knicks during their NBA Championship run became a major hit on social media.
“Following the social success of Danhausen’s connection to the NBA Playoffs, WrestleVotes on Fightful Select learned that no fewer than three NFL teams have inquired about potential promotion partnerships with Danhausen later this season, including in-stadium appearances.”
The NFL interest may only be the beginning of what WWE has planned. A source within the company described the response to Danhausen’s Knicks merchandise as something WWE hasn’t experienced before when it comes to one of its wrestlers attracting crossover attention from professional sports organizations.
“According to a source within WWE, the response to Danhausen’s New York Knicks merchandise run has been ‘unlike anything the company has experienced with a talent generating crossover interest from professional sports organizations,’ particularly within the NFL.”
That interest could soon turn into merchandise as well. The report added that there is an internal expectation that Fanatics will eventually launch a Danhausen-NFL crossover line later in the season.
“With an expectation that internally, Fanatics will likely run a Danhausen-NFL crossover line later this season.”
Danhausen’s sudden connection to professional sports started with the Knicks during their playoff run. He became part of the team’s story by “uncursing” them, and the bit took off as New York continued winning before eventually defeating the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals.
After the Knicks ended their 53-year championship drought, Danhausen wasted little time taking credit. He declared himself the “king of New York” and demanded everything from a statue to his own parade while congratulating the newly crowned champions.
There’s no word yet on which three NFL teams have reached out or exactly what those partnerships could look like beyond the possibility of in-stadium appearances. Still, Danhausen apparently uncursed one NBA team and walked away with NFL teams calling WWE, which isn’t a bad return on a supernatural investment.
