Mickie James is officially getting involved at TNA Bound For Glory — and she’s being dropped right into one of the biggest women’s matches on the card. After TNA teased her appearance last week without explaining what she’d actually be doing, that mystery is now over.
TNA President Carlos Silva announced that James will serve as the special guest referee for the TNA Knockouts World Championship match between Xia Brookside and Indi Hartwell at Bound For Glory. James had already been announced for the October 11 event following last Thursday’s episode of iMPACT!, but TNA kept her exact role under wraps until now.
The assignment also puts James right back into the Knockouts picture after she resurfaced in TNA earlier this year. She feuded with Ash By Elegance and The Elegance Brand before teaming with ODB and Taryn Terrell at TNA Rebellion for a Hardcore Country Match against Ash By Elegance, Heather By Elegance and M By Elegance. Now she gets to stand directly between Brookside and Hartwell with the Knockouts World Championship on the line — which gives an already important title match another layer of chaos heading into TNA’s biggest show of the year.
Bound For Glory takes place Sunday, October 11 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. TNA recently moved the start time to 4:30 PM ET, immediately following the company’s Hall of Fame ceremony at 4 PM ET.
The current Bound For Glory card includes:
- TNA World Championship: Nic Nemeth vs. Leon Slater
- No DQ Falls Count Anywhere Match: The Hardys vs. syX
- TNA Knockouts World Championship: Xia Brookside vs. Indi Hartwell — Mickie James as special guest referee
- TNA International Championship — The Order 4-Way: Special Agent 0 vs. Mustafa Ali vs. Jason Hotch vs. John Skyler
- TNA X-Division Championship: BDE vs. Rich Swann vs. KC Navarro vs. Fabian Aichner vs. Cedric Alexander vs. Ryan Nemeth
- Call Your Shot Gauntlet
- Eddie Edwards vs. Ricky Sosa
There could also be more added before Sunday. Allie and Kiera Hogan challenged Zoey Serrano to find a partner for a Knockouts World Tag Team Title match, and Serrano later revealed Shayna Baszler as the woman she wants beside her.
James isn’t just showing up for a wave to the crowd anymore. TNA is putting her directly in the middle of a championship fight, and with Brookside and Hartwell both trying to leave Tampa with the gold, Mickie could end up having a much bigger impact on Bound For Glory than anybody expected.
