Mick Foley may not be rushing back into the ring, but he isn’t completely shutting the door either, especially now that he’s in AEW.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani, Foley was asked whether he wants a final match in AEW. The Hardcore Legend admitted the idea has crossed his mind, especially with cinematic matches giving older wrestlers a way to work around physical limitations.

“Well, it’s definitely crossed my mind. Cinematic matches have opened the door for guys whose cardio may be suspect, but I’ll tell you—this loss of 100 pounds has made my life so much easier.”

Foley said his major weight loss has changed his day-to-day life, especially when it comes to walking and stamina. Even then, Foley made it clear that any potential match would need to avoid head trauma. He joked that there is still plenty of him below the neck that could take punishment.

“I used to have to stop a couple of times just walking up a moderate hill, and now I don’t even realize I’m walking up hills because I’m not getting winded like before. I don’t know—I think clearly if I had a match, it would have to be one that avoids trauma to the head. Luckily, there’s a whole lot of me to traumatize below the neck. So I think I have one more good match in me, but I believe all the stars would have to align and it would have to make sense.”

Foley also brought up his long-discussed idea of dropping an elbow off a TV truck onto a car, but admitted he has serious concerns about risking the progress he has made physically. He said the key would be finding the right kind of match with safer spots that still give fans something memorable.

“Maybe that long-term goal of dropping an elbow off a TV truck onto a car—but I had a talk with myself and realized how much my replacements changed my life. It could undo all the good, and I don’t know if I’m ready to take that chance. If I can come up with enough of those types of moves that allow me to risk less while giving fans a good match, and if I feel like I’m up to it, then maybe a couple of years down the road we’ll look into it.“Stranger things have happened.”

The comments come after Eric Bischoff praised Foley’s AEW role but warned him against getting back in the ring for a full match. Bischoff said Foley still has value as a storyteller, on-air presence, and personality, but hoped he would avoid taking unnecessary punishment.

Foley is now part of AEW after debuting during Double or Nothing weekend, and while his role appears focused on appearances and storytelling for now, his comments make it clear that one final match is not impossible.
