Mercedes Moné traded the wrestling ring for the red carpet Thursday night as she attended the world premiere of The Mandalorian and Grogu in Los Angeles.
Moné, who appeared under her real name Mercedes Varnado, shared photos from the event on social media while posing alongside The Mandalorian during the massive Hollywood premiere.
The AEW star has an actual connection to the Star Wars franchise as well. Moné plays Koska Reeves in The Mandalorian, a Mandalorian warrior who serves alongside Bo-Katan Kryze. She originally appeared across Seasons 2 and 3 of the Disney+ series and became part of several major storylines involving Din Djarin and Grogu. Moné’s action scenes in the show also leaned heavily into her wrestling background, featuring athletic combat spots and throws inspired by her in-ring style.
The world premiere event included appearances from major cast and crew members, including Pedro Pascal and director Jon Favreau, while early media screenings and social reactions also started surfacing online Thursday night. The movie officially hits theaters and IMAX next week on May 22.
At this point, Mercedes Moné continues building one of the more unique crossover careers in wrestling with major projects in both AEW and the Star Wars universe.
Do you think Mercedes Moné should eventually return for an even bigger role in Star Wars, or should she stay focused mostly on wrestling? Leave your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
