Matt Hardy isn’t just using this TNA run to stack up another title chase with Jeff Hardy. He says the Hardys are also there to help make other teams matter — and The Righteous are at the top of that list.
During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Matt and Jeff Hardy talked about why this current chapter in TNA feels right for them. Matt said the Hardys still feel like two hungry kids living their dream, even after decades in the business and nearly 30 straight years on television.
Matt explained that TNA gives them a spot where they can help bring more attention to the company while also staying fresh themselves. Then he made it clear that elevating younger talent is a big part of the mission.
“And uh the fact that we’re at TNA right now allows us to be in something that keeps us relevant, keeps us fresh, keeps us new. And also, we get to elevate young talent, too. Like, uh the Righteous, we have taken a lot of pride in trying to build these guys into a bigger team and bigger stars. And and when our rivalry is all said and done, these guys are going to be big stars, I think. And I think they’re going to be more popular than they’ve ever been. That’s what feels the best for me.”
That is a pretty strong stamp from Matt Hardy. The Righteous have been locked into a weird, dark, supernatural feud with the Hardys, and Matt clearly believes the program is doing more than just giving him and Jeff another wild chapter.
Jeff also backed up how much TNA’s current roster benefits from the Hardys still being active. He said their fanbase helps get people watching TNA, and once they tune in, they can discover newer names.
“It’s so cool that we have our names are out there and these meet and greets kind of speak for themselves. The die hardies that show up for us. Uh, it’s just so uh, great to have the power to get people into TNA to to see and witness all this new incredible talent uh, that is tearing it up. Leon Slater comes to mind first and foremost. He is an incredible athlete, human being, and um it’s just so cool that people can find out, oh, the Hardies are still wrestling there in TNA and then they tune in and see all these all this new talent that they can get uh get behind and fall in love with as well.”
The Hardys are still chasing big moments in TNA, but Matt is also looking at the bigger picture. He wants The Righteous to come out of this feud hotter than they came in, and that says a lot about what the Hardys see their role as in TNA right now.
