While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez admitted that very few people seem to know what’s actually going on with Rook’s condition. However, he did share the one update he’s heard.
“The only thing that I’ve heard, other than, like, virtually no one knows what’s going on, is that it’s possible that he could be out for a while.”
Alvarez also stressed that nobody has been able to put a timeline on what “a while” actually means, making it difficult to gauge how serious the situation really is.
“I don’t know what that means. I don’t know what, in terms of a while, means, but hopefully whatever it is is cleared up quickly and he is able to get back in the ring.”
The update comes just one day after WWE announced that Rook was not medically cleared to challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship. Rook later addressed the situation himself, apologizing to fans and saying the decision was completely out of his control while promising it was “just a speed bump and not a road block.”
For now, WWE still hasn’t revealed what kept Rook out of the title match or when he’ll be able to compete again. Alvarez’s comments don’t provide many answers, but they do suggest this could end up being more than just a one-week absence if the situation doesn’t improve.
Hopefully, whatever is keeping Rook out isn’t anything serious. He had just earned the biggest title opportunity of his NXT career, and after coming that close, you’d hate to see him spend an extended period on the sidelines before getting another shot.
