Things may be a lot more serious for Mason Rook than fans initially thought. After missing his scheduled NXT Championship match last week due to not being medically cleared, a new report suggests the rising WWE star could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
When Rook was pulled from the September 29 edition of NXT, he assured fans the setback was only a “speed bump” and not a “roadblock.” WWE also offered very little information, only stating that he wasn’t medically cleared to compete, leaving plenty of questions about what had happened.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live on October 7, however, Bryan Alvarez shared a far more concerning update. According to Alvarez, whatever is keeping Rook out could sideline him for quite some time.
“I have heard… whatever’s going on with Mason Rook, I have been told could be pretty serious. I’ve been told he could be out a long time — could be a very long time. No one seems to be really talking about what the issue is. Whatever it is, it’s a real issue, and he could be out for a long time.”
At this point, neither WWE nor Rook has confirmed what the medical issue actually is, so the exact nature of the situation remains unknown. For now, all that’s clear is that the company pulled him from his biggest NXT match to date, and if Alvarez’s report is accurate, fans may be waiting much longer than expected to see him back in the ring.
With so few details available, speculation is likely to continue until WWE or Rook provides another update. Hopefully, whatever is going on isn’t as serious as feared, but for now, Rook’s return to NXT appears to be very much up in the air.
