Drew McIntyre’s WWE return is not looking like a SummerSlam thing anymore, as he’s not expected to be back for the Biggest Party of the Summer.

There had been some hope online that McIntyre could make his way back in time for one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year, but the latest word says that is not happening. During a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro said he was told McIntyre will not be back for SummerSlam.

“The word now is that he will not be back for SummerSlam.”

That lines up with everything else going on in McIntyre’s world right now. Instead of gearing up for a WWE comeback, Drew has been stacking up Hollywood work. It was reported that McIntyre joined Russell Crowe’s upcoming action movie The Last Druid, which is currently filming in Spain. The cast also includes Stacy Clausen, Pablo Derqui, and Crowe’s son, Tennyson Crowe.

The movie puts Crowe back in Roman Empire territory 25 years after Gladiator. The Last Druid follows a Roman Emperor who finds a hidden Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia, with Crowe playing a peaceful Celtic elder forced to fight for his family and people.

The Scottish Warrior also recently worked with Crowe on Amazon MGM’s Highlander reboot, so this is not just a quick cameo run. Drew is clearly putting real time into his film career while he is away from WWE.

That makes the SummerSlam update even more telling. Ringside News can confirm nothing has been on the table for McIntyre creatively in WWE, and with another movie now on his schedule, there is no sign that his return is close.

Bottom line, Drew McIntyre has been gone from WWE television since WrestleMania 42, but his next major fight is not happening inside a WWE ring. For now, Hollywood has him busy, and SummerSlam apparently will not be his comeback spot.

What do you think about Drew McIntyre missing SummerSlam? Should WWE wait until the right creative plan is ready, or do they need him back as soon as possible? Drop your thoughts below and leave your feedback.
