The July 14 episode of NXT kept fans’ attention throughout the two-hour broadcast. Everyone led to the main event, where a new #1 contender was crowned for the NXT Women’s Title.
Kendal Grey won the NXT Women’s Championship on June 28, 2026, by defeating Lola Vice at The Great American Bash. Since then, the women’s division has been full of competitors who want to step up.
Kali Armstrong, Lola Vice, and Kelani Jordan threw down in a #1 contender’s match to determine who would face Kendal Gray for the NXT Women’s Title. Naturally, they left it all in the ring as one would expect.
Everyone in this match had their own reason to fight hard for the win. They all had moments, and the crowd was behind everyone equally, but there could only be one winner.
Kelani Jordan and Kali Armstrong had a chance to trade quick offense as Lola Vice sold a move on the outside, but she didn’t take a long break from the match. This was followed by a few near falls as fans in the NXT Arena traded chants for Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan.
The three women battled through multiple commercial breaks as the company gave them time to flesh out the main event match. It was also every woman for herself as no allies were present in this contest, despite the fact that Kelani Jordan and Kali Armstrog did work in tandem for a bit of the matchup.
Fans were chanting “This is Awesome” before the match was over. All three women stood in the middle of the ring and traded shots before Kali Armstrong nailed Lola Vice with a Kali Connection and another finisher before Lola rolled out of the ring. Then Kelani and Kali traded near falls until it looked like Kali didn’t kick out in time. Then Kelani made her way up with a 450 on Kali, but then Lola kicked Kelani and made the pin on Kali to become the new #1 contender and get another shot at the NXT Title.
