Logan Paul’s latest WWE run hit a brutal setback after he suffered a torn tricep during his championship match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Paul and Austin Theory defended their WWE World Tag Team Championship against The Street Profits on May 23, but the match ended with Paul dealing with a serious injury. WWE later announced that he would be out of action for “a number of months” because of the torn tricep.
Speaking on his ImPaulsive podcast, Paul explained that the injury happened when Angelo Dawkins came flying over the ropes to the outside. Paul said his arm was already flexed as he tried to catch Dawkins, and the impact was too much for his body to handle.
“What had happened was, I was on the outside, a nearly 300 pound (Angelo) Dawkins comes flying over the ropes. He lands on me, my arm is flexed and trying to catch him. Too much weight, too much tension, I could feel the tendons snap off the elbow.”
Paul said he knew right away that something was badly wrong because of how many injuries he has dealt with before. He also pointed out that fans can hear the pain in his voice during the match.
“I’ve been injured so many times, I knew immediately. You can hear, listen closely to when it happens, you can hear me, I’m not selling like a wrestler, that’s real pain. I knew in that moment, I’m f**ked.”
Paul also explained what happened after the match when Bron Breakker went to raise his arm in celebration. He said he had already told Austin Theory in the ring that he believed he tore his tricep.
“I told Austin when we were in the ring, ‘I tore my tricep.’ He looks at me – we’re still working – like ‘Are you f**king serious?’ ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah.’ Then Bron Breakker goes to raise our arms because we had just won the match.”
Paul said he panicked in that moment because Breakker was about to lift the injured arm. He warned him repeatedly before Breakker carefully raised it.
“I go ‘I hurt my arm! I hurt my arm! I hurt my arm! Please, careful, careful.’ He takes a second and then he slowly raises it up, and it was fine, but in that moment I was like ‘Bro, my partner’s about to rip my f**king arm more than it already is.’”
Paul also addressed fans saying The Vision may be cursed because of the group’s run of injuries. Bron Breakker previously dealt with a hernia, Bronson Reed suffered a torn bicep, and Seth Rollins was written off WWE television after a shoulder injury angle involving Breakker. Paul said the most frustrating part was that the injury happened on the final move he was involved in during the match.
“That’s one of the most disappointing parts about it, it was the last move I was a part of in the match. It was the last f**king thing, I hit this move right and I’m going home.”
Despite the injury, Paul made it clear he still sees himself as a champion, even if he does not currently have the title belt in his possession.
“By the way, I am still the champ, I just don’t have the hardware to prove it. It doesn’t matter, because guess what? The Vision are still tag team champions.”
Paul also shut down the idea that The Vision is cursed and even brought Danhausen into the conversation.
“The people are saying The Vision is cursed, you’re cursed, Danhausen! Bro, The Vision is not cursed. Bron Breakker is indestructible, minus the hernia. Austin Theory has been working for years.”
Logan Paul’s injury comes at a rough time for The Vision, especially with the faction already dealing with multiple setbacks. Still, Paul made it clear that he is not ready to let the injury define his title reign or the group’s momentum in WWE.
