Liv Morgan has finally revealed what she went through to fix the lingering forehead injury that has bothered her ever since her scary collision with Roxanne Perez earlier this year, and it turned out to be far more serious than most fans realized.
Back in August, Raquel Rodriguez revealed that Morgan was still dealing with swelling from the April 6 episode of RAW, saying months of therapy had helped, but the bump still hadn’t completely disappeared. At the time, Rodriguez even admitted she hoped Morgan wouldn’t eventually need surgery.
Speaking on the Six Feet Under podcast, Morgan has now confirmed that the injury required multiple medical procedures after a hematoma refused to heal on its own following the head collision with Perez.
“So Stephanie pushed me into Roxanne, and me and Roxanne’s heads collided really hard, and I got this hematoma. And we thought it was just gonna go away, and it didn’t go away for like six or seven months. And so then I got two rounds of steroid injections in it, and the steroid injections finally made it go away, but it ate away at the fat. So I had this divot in my head.”
Because the steroid injections left an indentation in her forehead, Morgan revealed she recently underwent a fat-graft procedure to repair the area. Doctors removed fat from her abdomen before injecting it into her forehead, although she won’t know for several months whether she’ll need another procedure.
“So I just got a fat graft. So they put me under, and they went in through my belly button and took fat out of my abdomen and injected it through my hairline into my head. And so it’s gonna take like a couple weeks for it to smooth out, and then I won’t know for like three months if I need another one because your body only retains like a certain percentage of the fat.”
Morgan also admitted the injury became much harder to deal with once she was living with it every day outside of wrestling. While she initially thought the hematoma looked fitting for someone in her profession, constantly seeing it in the mirror eventually wore on her.
“I didn’t mind the hematoma because I was like, ‘Oh, it looks like I got in a fight.’ Like, that’s cool for wrestling. But then just like in my everyday life, it was just like all I could see when I looked at myself. So I’ve just been like silently dealing with it.”
Looking back at the night it happened, Morgan recalled Dominik Mysterio immediately trying to stop her from seeing the injury. She knew something was wrong as soon as she reached up and felt the swelling, and when she finally looked at herself, the size of the bump actually made her laugh.
“I remember Dominik just being like, ‘Don’t look at it. Don’t look at it.’ And then I went to go touch it, and I had already felt it from here. And I was like, ‘Holy s***.’ Like, that’s when I knew, like, it wasn’t good. I finally looked, and it actually made me laugh ’cause it was so ridiculous. It looked like a cartoon.”
Although she’s relieved the injury has mostly healed, Morgan admitted it stands out as the worst injury she’s suffered during her wrestling career and the one she’d erase if she could.
“I’ve just been like silently dealing with it. So glad it’s healed for the most part. That’s probably my worst wrestling injury… if there was one that I can be like, ‘I’ll take that one away,’ it’d be that hematoma.”
It turns out that bump on Morgan’s forehead was a lot more than a cosmetic issue. After months of trying different treatments and eventually undergoing surgery, she’s finally seeing progress, but the recovery process still isn’t completely over.
